Natural Skin Care, Mother Nature's Beauty Secret

No one knows skincare better than Mother Nature. In today's world our skin is constantly being bombarded with pollutants, and to slow or reverse the damage we often turn to products that contain a myriad of chemicals, when in truth, the answer to achieving great skin may rest with the natural ingredients of the earth.

As a dentist, my skin is exposed to a lot of hand washing and my face is vulnerable to many chemicals. Instead of the soaps with antimicrobials and skin care with questionable ingredients, I had to find a safer way to protect and clean my skin from debris and pollutants, while keeping it moisturized and healthy. After a lot of research, I found the answer.

To successfully fight the damage that day-to-day living brings to your skin, it is necessary to use products that contain antioxidants. The reason that antioxidants are so important to skincare is that they help combat the free radicals that damage cells.

There are many sources of free radicals in the environment, including pesticides, air pollution and cigarette smoke. All these sources of free radicals can help accelerate the signs of aging; to fight this you need products that contain antioxidants.

Antioxidants are essential because they help to fight cell damage by neutralizing free radicals and preventing them from oxidizing and damaging cells. To minimize the damage caused by free radicals, you must take advantage of the antioxidants that Mother Nature has provided.

Shea Butter provides protection against free radicals in the form of Vitamin A, E, and F. Large amounts of these vitamins make this ingredient one of the best choices you can make for skin care.

The butter is extracted from the nuts of the Shea-Karite tree, found only in Africa. The fatty acids in this extract, is the ingredient that is responsible for its immense healing properties. The fatty acids work wonders in also helping skin retain moisture and elasticity.

The Vitamin E in the butter helps to accelerate blood to the cells, and Vitamin F brings more elasticity to the skin, producing a healthy, silky feel.

Another advantage that Shea Butter offers is that it has the ability to deeply penetrate the skin, providing your skin with maximum moisture and protection that lasts throughout the day. In addition, it allows you to do this without the chemicals found in so many of the products that are on the market today.

With regular use, it can help with several different skin conditions including, wrinkles, blemishes, dry skin, sunburn, and Eczema. just to name a few. It is truly Mother Nature's wonder product.

If you care about your skin and want to fight the signs of aging, do it naturally as Mother Nature intended, with skin care products containing Shea Butter.

Cellulite - What Is Cellulite and How to Get Rid of Cellulite

Cellulite has become one of the most hated female conditions in recent years especially amongst those who are generally slim; the lower half of the body is the most likely, but not exclusive, area that will be affected. Although additional fat is normal in women, this is not just a problem exclusive to overweight women; this condition even affects slim women who have fewer fat cells.

Cellulite forms just below the surface of the skin in the thighs and buttocks region, where areas of fat collect and force themselves against the tissue creating a puckered look to the surface of the skin. The real cause of is unknown so is the reasons why some women are more prone to suffering with it than others but scientists believe that it could be due to the way the cells are structured beneath the skin of each individual.

One thing is for certain though ad that is this problem increases with age which is partly due to the reduction of collagen and elastin in the system which is why we tend to have more lines as we get older. It is normally classified as a problem caused by hormones and is why men rarely suffer with the condition as fat in their bodies is consistent throughout.

The presence of cellulite is not always prominent, unless one tries to pinch the upper skin of one's thigh; should it feel lumpy then you most certainly have it but a woman should not feel bad about having it, since most have this condition to a certain degree. There are several factors that contribute to the build-up; genetics probably, gender, the amount of excess fats in your body, age is a major factor and the thickness of the skin are all instrumental to its presence and just how visible it is, even at a distance.

One thing for sure is that technology has not as yet devised a miracle potion or treatment that can eradicate it completely. One method that hides the cellulite quite well by puffing the skin is deep massage and an increasing number of clinics are now offering this therapy.

Liposuction has now started to be used to try and remove the fat cells and even by injecting drugs directly into the affected sacks directly. Only temporary relief can be gained from both these procedures and liposuction despite its success at removing deep fat from large areas of the body, is not designed for the fats close to the surface as in the case of cellulite.

Whilst the creams that claim to burn the fat deposits away may not be very successful, the latest generation is designed to hide the condition although once again this is a short term answer. Many people believe that the only realistic way to reduce the amount of fatty tissue a person has is to follow a controlled diet plan and exercise regularly which will gradually burn off much of the body fat including that found in the tissues of the thighs and buttocks.

Water too is useful as it has the effect of flushing out toxins that accumulate and are thought to be partly responsible for the cellulite; in addition to this smokers are urged to quit or reduce their smoking which is an effective way for toxins to enter the body.

A Closer Look At An Amazing Plant - Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera looks like a cactus, but is in fact a member of the Lily family and it also has natural antibiotic and anti bacterial properties. It may look ugly but contains a lot of hidden health benefits. Aloe Vera is a renowned name in health and cosmetic world. It is beneficial in stimulating the production of elastin and collagen which are necessary for preventing the aging of the skin.

This amazing plant contains 75 nutrients, 200 active compounds, 20 essential minerals, 18 amino acids, and 12 vitamins. Extracts from such plants are widely used in treating various skin disorders and hence it is one of the most popular natural ingredients to be added in most of the cosmetic products today. Skin care products with aloe vera increase the availability of oxygen to the skin and thereby aid synthesis and strength of the skin tissues.

The gel from this plant is used to treat first-degree burns for speedy healing, and is used to shrink warts and lessen the painful effects of shingles. It is also made in lotion form and is widely used for cleansing the skin. Aloe's pH restores the skin's balance while it cleanses making it an excellent toner for blemished skin.

Aloe Vera has been widely used to cure a number of ailments, and herbal specialists have consistently used it for treatment of acne as well. Should you have any dental problems, you can apply aloe gel for instant pain relief and to deal with dental problems such as bleeding gums and denture stomatitis. Do Men Have A Skin Care Routine?

With growing trends with image it is not just women who are taking the time to invest in their appearance. Men are also following suit and in some cases men are spending more time in front of the mirror compared to their female counterparts.

But there is more to looking after the skin that looking good. Given that the skin is the largest organ of the human body it is essential that it is looked after and maintained in order to help it fight off the attack of potential infections.

So you need to understand your skin and making sure that you have the right products to your disposal. If you have oily skin then you need to be using products that are going to be helping you have a less shiny face and to prevent spots from occurring. You may have passed the teenage years, but that does not mean that you will not get a spot. Anyone can get a spot and at any stage, so do not think that you have become immune.

Another problematic skin type is that of dryness. In this instance your skin is really lacking in moisture and this can be caused by a number of reasons such as humidity or even low extreme temperatures. You need to be making sure that you are consuming a sufficient amount of water and that you need to be avoiding alcohol as this has a drying effect. Remember, what you consume in terms of food and drink will affect your appearance.

If you are fortunate to have normal skin then you need to count your blessings but you should not become lazy as anything can change. You should be using a good range of natural skin care products to make sure that you have giving your skin the nutrients that it needs and to be maintaining a healthy lifestyle and diet.

So if you have not already done so then you need to buy your own range of products starting with a good moisturiser, cleaner, exfoliating scrub and also a face mask. Oh and as well as these you need a good face wash. Try to obtain products that are soap free and remember not too wash the face more than twice a day.

Excess washing of the face will take away essential oils from the skin and so the body needs to compensate and so you could end up with very oily skin indeed.

Exfoliate every now and then just to get rid of these dead skin cells and to give yourself a fresh look. Use a face mask to help cleanse the pores and really lift out any dirt and bacteria.

Also if you shave, then you will need to use a shaving oil. Do not use foam or gel as these contain irritants and oil will act as a better lubricant compared to gel or foam. Remember to make sure that the whiskers of the beard are soft, and this is best achieved by shaving after you shower.

Why People With Dry Irritated Skin Should Avoid Synthetic Chemicals

Natural skincare preparations have been used for thousands of years to help people with dry irritated skin, but the present trend for natural skincare products has only become prevalent among the general public during the last twenty years or so.

These days there are many suppliers and outlets for natural skin care products, along with skincare specialists and retailers who believe in the benefits of natural skin care techniques.

One reason for this change in public perception is that many consumers these days want to use more natural products and so they can feel that they are playing their part in helping the environment.

Another reason for the greater uptake of natural skincare products comes from the realisation that synthetic products can sometimes make things worse for people with skin problems like dry irritated skin. This is particularly the case with those suffering from atopic dermatitis which is a condition where the skin becomes inflamed on a long-term basis. This is often a hereditary condition, passed down from one generation to another.

Non-natural skincare products can contain a wide range of man-made chemicals. Instead of having a soothing effect, these synthetic chemicals can irritate the skin, and so should be avoided by people with dry irritated skin and atopic dermatitis. Some of these chemicals are discussed below.

Propylene glycol is a clear oily liquid that is also known by the systematic chemical name of propane-1,2-diol. It is used in non-natural skin care products as a moisturiser, a carrier in fragrance oils, and as a skin firming lotion. Some people have reported skin irritation and skin dryness after using products containing propylene glycol.

Parabens are a category of synthetic chemicals that are used extensively in non-natural skincare products. Chemically they are esters of para-hydroxybenzoic acid. They are used as preservatives because of their bactericidal and fungicidal abilities. They are generally considered safe, but people with paraben allergies can develop skin irritation and contact dermatitis when exposed to parabens.

SLS/SLES refers to Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and its close relative Sodium Laureth Sulphate. These are commonly used in many man-made shampoos, soaps, and other products as surfactants or foaming agents. They also have de-greasing properties. Chemically, SLS and SLES are esters of sulphuric acid. SLS is also known as sulphuric acid monododecyl ester sodium salt. There have been cases of skin irritation associated wit the use of soaps and shampoos containing SLS/SLES.

These are a few examples of man-made chemicals that are used in skin care products and have been found to cause skin problems. So people with dry irritated skin or atopic dermatitis should check the labels on any products they have or are thinking of using for these chemicals and avoid them if possible.

Look for natural skin care products, as these tend to be kinder to the skin and so bring long-term benefits. But beware, as some skincare products which claim to be natural can contain man-made chemicals. It is therefore important to be vigilant and look for a supplier with a reputation for using natural substances like rhealba oats as opposed to man-made chemicals.

Best Homemade Facial recipes

Regular facial treatments can improve skin texture, tone and overall appearance. A facial is a cosmetic treatment of the face, commonly involving a variety of skin treatments, grooming steps and deep cleansing of the face by various means including: steam, exfoliation, extraction, creams, lotions, masks, peels, and massage. As we age facial muscles weaken, and skin begins to sag. But just as gym workouts can promote the body's youthful strength and suppleness, facial exercise - based on the same principles of dynamic resistance - can strengthen facial muscles.

Facials are designed to eliminate clogged pores, blackheads, and other impurities affecting the appearance and overall health of the skin. Facial treatments incorporate a variety of grooming steps that can include the use of creams, masks, peels, steam, exfoliation, extraction, lotions, and massage.

The facial nerve is mixed nerve containing both sensory and motor components. The nerve emanates from the brain stem at the ventral part of the pontomedullary junction. The nerve enters the internal auditory meatus where the sensory part of the nerve forms the geniculate ganglion. Plastic surgeons use facial implants to improve and enhance facial contours. Frequently, these implants will help provide a more harmonious balance to your face and features so that you feel better about the way you look.

Microderm is an amazing way to exfoliate the dull top layer of skin to reveal smoother, more radiant and beautiful skin beneath. Microderm has many benefits which include; improving the texture of skin by smoothing the surface, diminishing fine lines, improving the appearance of acne scars, and encouraging breakouts to heal. It improves the skin's tone and texture by increasing your skin cell's ability to renew at the cellular level while also stimulating collagen production for firmer skin. Microderm removes dull skin and surface debris allowing the nutrients of the facial to penetrate and perform more effectively.

A facial is given by a licensed esthetician with special training in skin care. A facial usually starts around $75 at a day spa in a smaller city. Prices will be higher at destination spas, resort and hotel spas. Special masks and serums also make the price go higher.

Cucumber Facial Peel the cucumber and run it through a blender or a food processor. Pour the cucumber pulp into a colander or strainer and force it through, catching the liquid that comes out in a bowl underneath. Combine the cucumber liquid with the lemon juice and the witch hazel. Stir it and add the beaten egg white gently. Put it on your face and leave it on for 15 to 25 minutes, then rinse off.

For oily skin, use a clay-based face mask. For dry skin, go for a hydrating gel or cream mask. Apply the mask, avoiding the areas around the eyes. Keep it on for 10-20 minutes. Rinse completely.

You can purchase a mask or make your own at home. Honey and egg whites are very good and effective standbys. For dry skin, try using a mashed banana or avocado. The herbs that work for you will depend on your specific skin qualities. Experiment with a variety of herbs until you find the ones that work best.

Foods that can enhance your appearance need to feature as many of the following as possible: antioxidants, antibacterials, fibre to clear toxins, essential fats to support skin and reduced levels of saturated fat and sugar. The sorts of foods where you'll get this kind of combination are: fresh fruit and vegetables, whole grains, fish, pulses, nuts and seeds.

Skin Care: Lotions vs. skin care creams

There is no dearth of skin care creams and lotions in the market. Name an ailment, and you will find hundreds of skin care creams, lotions and other products for it. As a result of ongoing research and due to ever increasing demand, the number of skin care products seems to be on the increase. Skin care lotions and skin care creams are the most popular forms in which these products are available, and there always seems to be a debate on which form is better?

Well, there is no definitive answer to this. It seems more like a matter of personal choice. However, greasy creams are surely less popular as compared to the non-greasy (or less greasy) ones. Since the application of skin care creams is easier, they seem to be preferred (over lotions) in cases where the skin care product is not to be removed immediately after application. So, skin care creams seem more popular as moisturisers than as cleansers or toners. For toners, lotions seem to be preferred over skin care creams. There are some skin care creams that acts as toners too, but generally the toners are available in liquid form only. For cleansing, lotions and skin care creams are equally popular; however, the tilt seems more towards lotions.

Creams are known to be most effective in keeping skin moist; hence, the most popular form of skin care creams is moisturisers. Due to the same reason, a lot of people tend to associate skin care creams with dry and sensitive skin. Though it is true to a certain extent, skin care creams are not used only for dry skin, they are also used for making products for oily skin e.g. vitamin A creams and sulphur creams that help reduce the rate of sebum production.

Skin care creams are also used for products that cater to skin disorders especially for disorders that require the application of product over a small localised area. This is again due to the fact that skin care creams are easier to apply (without wastage) on the affected area. However, in cases where skin needs to be washed using a medicine/product, lotion is a better choice. Mostly, the manufacturers too realize this fact, making it easier for you to choose between a lotion and a skin care cream

Eye-creams and anti-ageing creams are other examples where skin care cream is preferred over its lotion counterpart.

Whatever your choice be (cream or lotion), knowing how to use it effectively, is more important than anything else.

Skin Care: Men's skin care

‘Man skin care’ would seem like an alien topic to some men. It would have been even more alien a few years back. However, more and more men are now realising the importance of man skin care (and hence you see markets flush with man skin care products too). Even though the male skin is very different from that of a female, ‘man skin care’ is very similar to the skin care for women.
‘Man skin care’ too starts with cleansing. Water soluble cleansers are preferred. Cleansing helps remove the dirt, grease and pollutants from the skin and helps in preventing pore clogging. The inherent oily nature of male skin makes cleansing an important part of man skin care procedure. Cleansing should be done at least once every day, even better if it is done twice a day. Using soap on the face is discouraged.

‘Man skin care’ revolves a lot around shaving. Shaving foam/gel/cream and after shave lotion are one of the most important man skin care products. Serious ‘man skin care’ requires a proper selection of shaving related equipment and products. One of the main considerations in choosing shaving products should be the skin type (since the degree of oiliness differs from person to person). Alcohol-based aftershaves should be avoided. Proper ‘man skin care’ also mandates the use of good quality razors. Here, swivel-head razors are preferred since they are known to reduce cuts. Besides these products and equipment, it is also necessary that you use them properly. Be gentle when using your razor. Do not scratch it against your skin; use a soft and smooth action (after all it’s a matter of removing hair, not the skin itself).

Male skin is generally thicker and oilier, owing to larger pores and more active sebaceous glands. However, due to regular shaving, the skin can get dehydrated quite easily. Hence moisturisers too form an integral part of man skin care. Moisturising gel or cream should be applied after shaving. In fact, some shaving foams/ gel have an in-built moisturising effect too. Moisturisers should be patted gently over the face and massaged gently using upward strokes.

Though a man’s skin is less susceptible to skin cancer caused by UV radiation, using a sunscreen is also an important man skin care measure. You can use a moisturiser that combines sunscreen with the moisturising effect.

Another good option for ‘man skin care’ is to use man skin care products which have natural ingredients like aloe vera, sea salt and coconut etc. Naturally antiseptic oils e.g. lavender, tea tree etc also provide good means for man skin care.

Man skin care is not as difficult as a lot of men think. It just asks for a few minutes every day, in order to give you a healthy skin for present and for future.

Sunless Tanning: How to get the most out of ultraviolet radiation tanning?

Sunless tanning is in very much vogue, how to get tanned artificially is each person’s own choice. Many people make the choice of ultraviolet radiation to get that near natural tan.

What are the benefits associated with the ultraviolet form of sunless tanning?

There are several benefits associated with ultraviolet form of sunless tanning. For getting UV rays sunless tanning, you need to visit cafes that specialize in this, you will have to expose yourself to the rays, so that the rays can tan your skin. This way of tanning is faster than tanning under the sun; you also get to relax other than getting a tan for you.

This form of tanning lasts longer than fake tan products, once you have the tan, it can go on up to several days, you do not need bothering about wasting time for regular application of the tanning lotions. You can get deeper tans depending on the time you have, deeper the tan longer it will last.

You can get this tan any time of the year, whether it is winter or summer, it does not matter if it is raining outside. The tanning salon is generally working throughout the year, so getting a tan should not be too difficult.

There are many shortcomings of this form of sunless tanning, if you are not careful with the UV radiation; you are at risk of contacting diseases that are both dangerous and extremely difficult to get rid off. You should take care that you do not expose yourself to these rays for more than 15 minutes at one time and this should not be more than 3 times in a week. If you go in for more intense therapy you are at risk of contacting skin cancer. This gives ample reason to exercise caution.

Another problem with UV rays tanning is that you need to lie down on tanning beds, unless care has been taken by the salon owner to clean beds after usage, you can contact infectious diseases like the body lice and ringworms that are difficult to get rid off fast and can become extremely irritating for you.

Since these are the UV rays you also need being careful that you do not let your eyes be exposed to the rays, it can affect your eyesight, so covering up your eyes at the time of tanning is a must.

Nail disorders Types and Treatment

A nail disorder is a condition caused by injury to the nail or disease or imbalance in the body. Most, if not all, of you have had some type of common nail disorder. When in doubt, please see your physician for the proper diagnosis. Distorted, discoloured or otherwise unsightly 'abnormal' fingernails and toenails are very common problems experienced by people of all ages in the community. Damage to the nail may be caused by an injury, fungal disease, or other skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema. The nail unit is made up of several components which form, support, protect and frame the nail itself. These include the nail matrix, the nail plate, the cuticle, the nail bed and nail folds. The nail unit protects fingertips, enhances fine touch and is important as a cosmetic structure.

Types of Nail Disorders Paronychia infections - of the nail fold can be caused by bacteria, fungi and some viruses. The proximal and lateral nail folds act as a barrier, or seal, between the nail plate and the surrounding tissue. If a tear or a break occurs in this seal, the bacterium can easily enter. this type of infection is characterized by pain, redness and swelling of the nail folds. If the bacteria has entered between the nail plate and the nail bed, it will cause the same discolorations and may also cause the nail plate to lift from the nail bed.

Pseudomonas bacterium - trapped between the nail plate and the nail bed. A fungal or yeast infection which results in Onychomycosis, can invade through a tear in the proximal and lateral nail folds as well as the eponychium. This type of infection is characterized by onycholysis (nail plate separation) with evident debris under the nail plate. It normally appears white or yellowish in color, and may also change the texture and shape of the nail. The fungus digests the keratin protein of which the nail plate is comprised. Leuconychia is evident as white lines or spots in the nail plate and may be caused by tiny bubbles of air that are trapped in the nail plate layers due to trauma. This condition may be hereditary and no treatment is required as the spots will grow out with the nail plate. Koilonychia is usually caused through iron deficiency anemia. these nails show raised ridges and are thin and concave. Seek a physicians advice and treatment. Melanonychia are vertical pigmented bands, often described as nail 'moles', which usually form in the nail matrix. Seek a physicians care should you suddenly see this change in the nail plate.

It could signify a malignant melanoma or lesion. Dark streaks may be a normal occurrence in dark-skinned individuals, and are fairly common. Onychophagy - Is the medical term for nails that have been bitten enough to become deformed. This condition can be greatly improved by regular manicures or artificial nails. It is not realistic to tell a nail biter to come back for artificial nails after they have grown a free edge. Artificial nails can help this person break the biting habit. There are also nail biting topically applied remedies available. Leukonychia - Is a condition in which white spots appear on the nails. It is caused by air bubbles, a bruise or other injury to the nail. Leukonchia can not be corrected but it will grow out.

Furrows - Also known as corrugations, are long ridges that run either lengthwise or across the nail. Some lengthwise ridges are normal in adults. These ridges increase with age and can also be caused by psoriasis, poor circulation and frostbite. Ridges that run across the nail are caused by high fevers, pregnancy & measles. Yellow nail syndrome: - Slow growing, excessively curved and thickened yellow nails which are associated with peripheral lymphoedema and exudative pleural effusions. Paronychia is inflammation of the tissue around the finger nail, with pus accumulating between the cuticle and the nail matrix. The area may become swollen, red and tender.

Treatment and Diagnosis of Nail Disorders Nail disorders diagnosis is by inspection. Early treatment is warm compresses or soaks and an antistaphylococcal antibiotic. Other treatment ptions include:

Serious Skin Care

Serious skin care is all about maintaining a glowing and healthy skin throughout your life. As you get old, the body’s natural skin care mechanisms get weak. Thus, you need to learn about the changing needs of your skin. You should regularly evaluate, analyze and change your skin care routines based on many things like the environment, your age and changes in your skin type.

You should be aware of more and more facts being brought up everyday with technological research. You should be open to try new products coming in the market. However, we recommend you to use a new product over a small are of skin (not on face) first, to check how your skin reacts to the new product.

You should follow some good practices like applying the moisturizer while the skin is damp, removing the makeup before you go to bed, using upward strokes for better penetration of products, using correct amount of makeup, cleansing before moisturizing, etc.

Take some precautions like to avoid any contact with detergents and make sure to be gentle with your skin. Do not over-exfoliate your skin and never use any low grade products or products containing strong chemicals.

Don’t forget to visit a dermatologist in case of any skin disorder. Never ignore the skin disorders as they may lead to permanent damage to your skin. Thus, if condition doesn’t improve with over the counter medication, immediately see a dermatologist. Never squeeze acne/blackheads.

Thus, serious skin care is more about taking proper precautions and preventive measures as you must have heard, “Prevention is better than cure.” You should be proactive about the needs of your skin so that the need for being reactive is almost zero.

Dry Skin Care - Suffering from Dry Sensitive Skin?

Our skin is a very delicate body organ. It gets irritated and can throw a temper any time at the slightest irritation that comes upon it. Each year, more than 50-70% of women say they suffer from dry sensitive skin. Why is our skin so intolerant? What can we do to alleviate ourselves from this skin misery?

The problem arises for dry sensitive people because the blood flows to their skin increases when the skin gets unbalanced. Our body creates a protein called histamine which is present in irritated areas. In most cases, the outer layer of our skin, the stratum corneum starts to weaken, resulting in water loss from the skin. Thus, that’s why you will feel your skin getting drier.

To care for dry sensitive skin types, you need to firstly make sure that your protect your skin’s barrier function from further disturbance. After that, you need to find some means to increase the skin’s defence against potential irritants from coming into contact with your skin.

You should also start monitoring for possible skin care products or foods that could be the resultant for your skin to get upset.

Here’s some tips for you to follow when it comes to caring for your dry sensitive skin.

- Choose only skin care products that are made especially for sensitive skin. Other normal products may be too harsh for your skin.

- Use gentle and mild skin cleansers than acidic solutions.

- Protect further damage of your skin’s strata corneum from UV rays by applying a sunblock.

- Do not use toners as it can strips your skin off essential oils which your skins needs.

- Use a gentle alpha hydroxyl acids product to help your skin to retain moisture.

The Five Body Skin Types

Just like our skin on our face, we have a skin type for our bodies, and this might not necessarily be the same as what we are on our face. Read the information below to help determine which body skin type you are and look for products that match these conditions described below.

Dry Skin - skin feels tight after showering and if left un-moisturized, will easily flake and crack. Tip: if you are exposed to air-conditioning, try keeping a bowl of water near the unit or air vent to prevent your skin from drying out.

Sensitive Skin - skin feels irritated, reactions can vary from itchy breakouts to blistering, just a genuine irritated feel to the skin. Tip: if you are wanting to try new products and are unsure how your skin will react, patch test the product on the inside of your wrist before buying and wait 24 hours to see if the skin reacts.

Normal Skin - skin feels supple and appears smooth, with an even texture to it, giving it the right balance of moisture. Tip: before any special occasion, treat yourself to a salon treatment, like a body wrap, to give your skin that extra glow.

Oily Skin - skin is soft and supple with large, visible pores, prone to breakouts of spots and acne, in specific areas, mainly the back and chest areas. Tip: look for the word "non-comedogenic" on the label of products you are looking for, it means it won't clog your pores.

Natural Skin Care - Men's Health

Don't be fooled by the stereotype of a man who doesn't care about the way he looks. Modern men are just as (or at least almost) as concerned with their appearance as women. And healthy skin is a fundamental part of looking great.

For men, skin care is a mere afterthought. Beyond the world of shaving their faces, it is rare for a man to devote time to his skin.

Yeah right! These days, skin care is no longer just a woman's concern. We are in the 21st century, and the pressure is on for man to take care of himself. Men are increasingly aware and concerned about the health of their skin. More men than ever are interested in taking care of their skin, and ensuring that they maintain their youthful looks for as long as possible.

Fighting the signs of Ageing

Man's blooming desire for beautiful skin is a 4 billion pound industry. So why are men beginning to catch up with women's interest in beauty products?

Most importantly, everyone wants to retain youthful skin for as long as possible. Along with drinking plenty of water and eating a healthy diet, moisturizing and nurturing the skin is the best way to grow old gracefully.

As we mature, the elastic and collagen, which is the connective tissues that give skin its firmness and elasticity, begin to disappear. Proper skin care is essential to keep this process at bay for as long as possible.

Choosing Organic?

Many men are reacting to chemicals in mainstream grooming products. This is leading them to increasingly convert to organic products that aren't toxic to their bodies and won't cause a reaction on their skin.

Glowing Skin Tips for Men and Women

Do you remember when you were a child and your skin had that natural glow? Even as a teenager, skipping the pimple phase, you had beautiful skin. Then when you turned older you looked in the mirror one day and asked yourself, what happened to my glowing skin? What happened to that glowing skin is it's not naturally glowing anymore: it needs your help. You are at the age where you have to make some type of effort to get and keep that glow. If we were smart, we would start taking care of our skin much sooner, but most of us don't. We wait until we wake up one day and realize we don't look like that child or teenager anymore.
You should wash your face twice a day, everyday. Every morning and every night. Dove beauty bar is great for any type of skin to clean your face with daily.

Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. This will help you get that natural glow. Drink plenty of water. This helps cleanse your circulatory system, which again, is very important in skin care. A balanced diet and cleanliness are the simplest steps to ensure healthy skin. Do remember to wash your face everytime you return from an outing. Dust and smoke block skin pores.

Fruit Mask for Glowing Skin

INGREDIENTS Honey, as needed (about 1/8 cup) 1/4 apple 1/4 orange, peeled 6 grapes 3 strawberries 1. Whiz fruits (but not honey) in your blender or food processor until smooth. 2. Wash face and pat dry. Immediately apply a thin layer of honey, then smooth the fruit mixture evenly over the honey. 3. Allow mask to remain in place for at least 15 minutes, then wash off with warm water and gently pat dry. For Men’s

Wash your face, splash with cold water. Men’s skins are oilier than women’s and have larger pores. That means your face acts as a dirt magnet and keep the dirt there. That clogs the pores and dirt has germs and germs cause trouble. Don’t use soap. In fact, not using soap on your face might be a good idea. Deep cleanse your face with a good cleansing lotion, preferably one that does not have an odour. Cleanser helps to remove the daily buildup of toxins, dirt and oils from the surface of the skin and should be free of irritating fragrances and chemicals. Oh and by the way, for those who have oily skins: frequent washing is not the answer. That will only irritate your skin, not help it. Blot the excess oils away. Wiping your face lightly with a tissue paper might help. Powder? Mixed opinions. Some feel it blocks the pores and causes further problems. Others advise one to avoid the shiny look.

For an intensive moisture treatment use pure vitamin E, or aloevera oil. This is available in liquid form, or you could just break open a capsule of vitamin E and apply directly on your face, especially under eye area. Under eye dryness should be avoided for the young look. Never leave you skin wet, cause the air will evaporate your skin’s precious moisture.

Facial Skin Care - It's So Easy

The same as having a physically fit body, the face is considered a “first-impression” maker. People can’t deny the fact that one of the first things one looks at when they meet a person, is his or her facial facets. Having great facial skin gives a person more positive impression from others, as well as the confidence to face other people. A person who has not taken good care of their facial skin, is more prone to blemishes and breakouts that may cause unhealthy and unsightly results. This is the reason why proper facial skin care is very important in both men and women.

Facial skin care is actually easy to do as well as inexpensive; it just takes a few minutes of one's time and the willingness to do it. The rewards of this daily habit are far more satisfying once you look yourself in the mirror and see pure smooth, healthy, and revitalized facial skin. Here are tips for daily facial skin care:

Quick home facials such as washing the face with warm water then massaging olive oil to the face to moisturize the skin, is a great way to cleanse the face. One can also use half-teaspoon sugar and rub it on the face till it melts, after which wipe off with warm, wet towel.

Home toning mixture using equivalent parts of vinegar and water with a few dissolved aspirins used twice daily will counter any signs of aging. The role of vinegar is to peel dull skin cells, whereas aspirin is an excellent anti-acne component and is also very effective on deep acne spots.

Washing your face several times daily and wiping with clean towel is a simple yet effective facial skin care that keeps spots off oily skin.

These are simple tips for effective facial skin care that will help one have a beautiful and young looking skin without the burden of having to spend too much for facial skin care products and extra time in salons and skin care clinics.

Having gorgeous and healthy skin is a great thing because it shows right on. it’s hard to hide it so one should go the extra mile to properly take care of it.

6 Ways to Apply Oils to the Skin

Emu oil
Emu oil has been used for thousands of years by Australian aboriginals to treat a variety of skin conditions. It is an excellent component of good skin care, whether prevention, symptom relief or accelerated healing of skin rashes is the goal.

Emu oil contains natural anti-inflammatory, pain relieving and bacteriostatic agents, which promote faster healing and help prevent scarring. As a moisturizer, it penetrates deep into the skin, without leaving a greasy film, and is non-comedogenic

Sea Buckthorn Oil Extract

Sea Buckthorn Oil Extract is manufactured by Floraleads GR from wildcrafted berries of Sea Buckthorn by multistage cold extraction into virgin olive oil. The proprietary extraction technology is based on the methods originally developed in Russia, where Sea Buckthorn oil became available as a commercial product in the middle of 20th century. It was further improved with advanced biocompatible techniques to obtain safe, potent, stable, all-natural skin care product. Because we do not fortify the extract and berries composition varies from one lot to another, the nutrients content on the label is given as a range. Sea Buckthorn oil extract is all natural product, free of artificial ingredients, traces of organic solvents, synthetic additives and preservatives.

Tea Tree Oil

Treat cuts, scrapes, insect bites and stings, and other minor skin wounds and irritations. Tea tree oil blends rapidly and easily with the skin's own oils. In the process, the oil alters the chemical barrier of the skin, making it less hospitable to the growth of fungi and other organisms. In these ways, tea tree oil not only lessens the chance of infection, it also promotes healing and reduces the likelihood of scarring.

Fight fungal nail infections, jock itch, and athlete's foot. Tea tree oil has been shown to be effective in countering Trichophyton, the fungus that causes numerous topical infections, including athlete's foot and jock itch.

Mouthwashes and gargles

Mouthwashes and gargles can easily be made. Add 1-2 drops of the selected essential oil to a cup of distilled water. Mix well and use as a mouthwash or gargle. An example would be to add 3-4 drops of Tea Tree oil to a cup of distilled water or vinegar for use at the first sign of a sore throat.

Sprays and spritzers Sprays and spritzers are fun to use. Simply fill a small, spray-topped, bottle with distilled water, and add the selected essential oil to the water. A good gauge is 10-15 drops of oil into four ounces of distilled water. Since oil and water do not mix, it is important to remember to shake the bottle before spraying. Once prepared, it can be sprayed onto the affected area of the skin three to four times a day.

Carrier oils:

The most common way to dilute a pure essential oil is with cold-pressed carrier oil. Carrier oils allow the essential oil to slowly permeate the skin, protecting it from possible inflammation. Jojoba, sesame, sweet almond, olive, rose hip, wheat germ, evening of primrose, grapeseed, kukui nut, sunflower, hazelnut, safflower, avocado or apricot kernel oils are the most commonly used. Several of the carrier oils can be combined and when essential oils are added, this makes for very nutrient-rich bath oil.
